Snack time

Everyday after her nap, I give Kagen a snack and water while she watches Tom and Jerry.  It's become a part of our daily routine. ;)  She's never really liked juice and I have no idea why.  I don't try to push it on her, in fact I'd rather her have water. But, juice can be good for her too!  I decided to try another juice drink anyways.

She tried it

Then wanted me to take it back.  ha!

I also had to catch some of her funny faces she makes while watching cartoons.

Dazed....

Grrrrrr!

It's about time!

Saturday, I wasn't feeling too great so my wonderful hubby took over and watched Kagen most of the day.  I layed there and stayed glued to the TV watching Lifetime movies.  It was nice but, I felt SO lazy.  I hate that feeling.  Kagen was still feeling a little crummy from her rash too.

My attempt to get a picture of Kagen in her pretty dress

Goldfish make everything better

Sunday, I was feeling much better and slept good, so good that I didn't hear my alarm go off.  Luckily, Kagen woke up early and woke us up.  We rushed around the house getting ready for church and made it with 5 minutes so spare.  Woo hoo!  Lex and I have been visiting New Harmony Baptist off and on for years.  Lex and I were married in this church, too. After visiting a couple churches and praying about it, we decided to join.  We both feel really good about this decision and are very excited to start getting involved with them.  Bro. Robbie, is an amazing preacher and we love hearing him.  When we walked up to him to join he was so happy and told us he just might shout!  He had been working on us for a while.  ;)  At the end of the service people came to shake our hands and hug our necks.  Most everyone told us, "It's about time!" or "I thought you were already members!".  Ha!   After church we had lunch at my parents and went home to nap.

Lex and I are attending a class on Sunday evenings called, Marriage, Built to last.  Last week everyone was placed in a group of about 6 couples, maybe more maybe less in some groups.  We watch a video and discuss what we saw and things that we might be going through as a couple.  It's a 6 week program and we are really excited about it and hope it brings us closer to each other and to God.

Ready to head back to church

Our group decided to meet at 5:30 yesterday instead of 6 so we could have time to talk before church.  Since we had to be there so early I had to pack Kagen some dinner so she could eat in the nursery.  When I dropped her off I found out that she had a little bit of a rough morning.  I took a pager just in case it got worse.  After our class Lex and I went by the nursery to check on Kagen and they said she was doing fine.  We got into church and sang a few songs and half way through the last song, the pager goes off.  *sigh*  When I went to get Kagen she was crying and they couldn't calm her down.  I have no idea what was wrong with her.  We decided to go ahead and go home.  I was sad we missed church.  When we got home she was acting much better.  The only thing I can guess is the effects from the rash she had are still hanging around.

That's pretty much our weekend.   Hope everyone has a great week!!

Expect the unexpected

Since having Kagen I've learned that...

-Plans will get changed....often

-You're late for church, lunch dates and appointments 80% of the time

-Changing poopy diapers means you'll get most of it on yourself

-Once a clean diaper is on, they will go potty

-They won't eat what you give them but, will put a random object...from the ground...in their mouth and eat it

-You'll get poked in the eye when you ask "Where's Momma?!"

-And Dad will get slapped in the head when you ask, "Where's Daddy?!"

-"No" is something they pretend to NOT understand

-They will drink out of other kids sippy cups.  eeeeyuck.

-Will have a full blown melt down in public.  (Sometimes I wish I could do the same)

It's not all bad.... Actually it's pretty wonderful most of the time.  Kagen has made my life so much brighter.  I enjoy some of the random mishaps that happen because they make life exciting and give me great stories to tell.

I've also learned that...

-They give awesome hugs and kisses

-Melt your heart

-Have SO much love to give

-Make you forget about jamming your finger in the door

-Wake up happy and not grumpy like Momma

-Laugh and laugh and laugh and laugh at the simplest things

-Say "I love you" without asking them to

-Get excited when you pick them up from the church nursery

-They love to learn knew things

With all that being said..... We had to change our Friday night plans.  Which is okay, but I'm still sad we didn't get to see our friends.

Yesterday, Lex and I took Kagen to the park and all she wanted to do was swing.  So she swung and swung and swung.  When we got home I changed her diaper and noticed this horrible looking rash!  It was on both of her legs and the backs of her arms.

Oh my!!!   I freaked out.  If you know me, that doesn't surprise you.  I snapped a picture and sent it to Kathy.  A Doctor she was working next to saw the picture and told her it looked like Urticaria.  Well, I was still a little freaked out but, doing better.  We gave her some Benadryl and put her down for a nap.  When she woke up the rash was gone and I was relieved.  Kathy did tell us not to be surprised if it came back and in different spots.  Today, it was back.  All over her.  I proceeded to freak out, yet again.  I decided to go ahead and make an appointment with her Doctor just so someone could see it in person.  She diagnosed it as Urticaria.  ;)  Apparently, there was something on the swing that Kagen was allergic to.  Yipee.  It also can make Kagen feel a little crummy so she's been grumpy.  It's not contagious or anything, it just looks bad.  It gets worse when she gets hot.  We have a steroid cream to put on her and will continue with Benadryl for a couple days and it should be gone.

I'm sure there will be many mysterious things that will come up and I will continue to freak out with each one of them.

Have a great weekend!!

I heart Mod Podge

I'm seriously addicted to this stuff.  I can't get enough of it.

This is my latest project.  It's a jewelry box for Kagen.

Two babies!!

This morning Erin dropped off one of her boys so I could watch him while she and her husband went out of town for the day.  I knew Kagen would be really excited because she loves company.  Levi is 2 weeks younger than Kagen, so I got to experience what having twins might be like. ha! Erin is one awesome Momma to keep up with her two kiddos and still cook dinner (PB&J's where on the menu for dinner tonight).

After breakfast they played and then we got ready to go to the mall!!  Lex was able to go with us too.  And I was glad.  ;)

Little Levi is such a ham, I love it!!

Their first supervised date.

After lunch it was obvious nap time was approaching.  The blank stare on both of their faces was a pretty good indication of that.  Levi went down perfectly but, Kagen...not so much.  She must have gotten a little burst of energy.  When Lex went outside he saw our child in her window.  Yes. IN her window.

Not sure what I'm going to do about this.  It makes me nervous.  And it not safe.  But, I still had to get pictures.

All in all, it was a really good day.  They were both in great moods all day and got along really well.  Having two isn't that scary after all!

Short and sweet...

This morning Kagen and I went to run a couple errands.  Our first stop was PetSmart.  I took her around to see all the animals and she loved the little Gerbils.  I dread the day she asks, "Mom can I get a _____?!".  We have three dogs and that is plenty!  We went to Wal-Mart too and she was so good.  Usually she is ready to leave half way through our trip but, she was pretty content this time.  We came home for lunch and to play a little bit outside before we ran one more errand.

"mmm, mmm, mmmm"

Her favorite thing to do in the front yard is walk back and forth on our stones

We took one more trip out to go to Target and I let her walk instead of ride in the buggy.  She was VERY happy.  She's going to love clothes...  We walked past a shirt and she pointed and said, "Cuuuute!".  Ha!   I love that little stinker.

Happy Sunday!

I'm writing this post quickly before I get Kagen up from her nap.
Lex and I finally made it to Sunday School after about 5 or 6 years.  Bad, I know.  We had to get up even earlier than we normally would have.  It takes us about 30 minutes to get there, which isn't bad, but when you have yourself and a child to get ready, that takes time.
When we picked Kagen up from the nursery after church she was a happy happy girl.  We found out that when she turns 2 we will have the option to move her up to the toddler class or keep her in the nursery a little longer.  I'm not sure what to do.  I'll decide in a few months I guess!  After church my parent's took us to lunch and poor Kagen was TIRED.   Needless to say, she had a couple tiny meltdowns, they were manageable with ice cream and an iPod.

Poor baby was so sleepy!

Ice Cream makes everything better

Can we go home now?

Family Photos.....

Yesterday we met up with my sister and her hubby so that she could take a few quick pictures for us. It was HOT. Kagen wasn't in the mood for pictures, either. I wanted to get a couple shots before summer was over, though. Lindsey did a great job and we got a couple good shots. One of these days we'll have them professionally done again but, I just hate to spend the money when it is difficult to get Kagen to sit still. The odds of a good picture are low. ha!

Our photographers

She was pooped too

We were right down the road so we went to have dinner with GiGi.

She had some yummy cupcakes waiting on us

All clean after dinner and looking cute too!

Wooo Hooo it's FRIDAY!

I love weekends. They are just.....perfect.

Here's some pictures from our week.

This adorable outfit was actually a gift I got at my baby shower from Kagen's pedi. She wore the skirt for her first birthday but, the top was too big. I decided to try the whole outfit on again and it fits! I'm going to take some of Kagen's 2 year pictures in this outfit. It's too cute to not! I'm pretty sure I have a little Princess on my hands. She wore it around the house for a while before asking me to take it off.

We decided to replace the blinds in Kagen's room with some black out curtains. She likes to look out her window a lot and it made nervous thinking about her getting tangled up in the blinds.

This was her "nap time"

Putting her hands on her "hips"

Kagen knows how to work the iPod better than I do

lil heart breaker

Learning is fun! Kagen is like a little sponge right now. She is wanting to learn everything and is starting to ask what different things are. We've been working on numbers, letters and colors and so far she is doing great.
